So you’ve taken the red pill and you’ve accepted that things aren’t happening to you but rather with you (or for you).
You conceptually can accept that it’s not so much your doing that is creating your reality, but rather your mindstate. If you’re pretty much just going through the same thoughts and actions everyday, reacting in the same ways (which are a conditioned result of your environment, upbringing, and biology), then you’re going to just create the same things again and again (even if you don’t like them).
Take worrying for example. You take the past and project it into the future. But of all the possible outcomes that could possibly be, you are choosing to put your energy towards ONE YOU DON’T WANT?
But let’s say that you accept that you can have what you want, you realize that your only limitation is YOU, so you decide that you want to start creating what you want. Now you say… “I don’t really know what I want.”
Great, welcome to the club. This is something I struggled with greatly.

It seems the world and people never stop asking us what we want.
- “What do you want to do with your life?”
- “Where do you want to live?”
- “What’s your dream?”
- “What kind of job do you want?”
- “If you don’t decide what you want and go for it, you’ll never get there. You’re just wasting time right now. Anyone who did anything great knew exactly what they wanted and went for it.”
I don’t know!
Here’s the thing though, you might not know what you want, but you certainly know how you want to feel. We get tripped up thinking that we have to know what we want. Look back 5 years. Did you have any idea that you’d be where you are now? If you asked yourself what you wanted 5 years ago, it probably would have looked totally different than what you want now.
But how you want to feel, well that hasn’t changed. That’s there. You’ve even gotten a better idea now of how that feeling will be reflected in reality.
Feeling is what we actually want.
As Esther Hicks says, “I want everything that I want because I believe I will feel better in the having of it and I believe that I will not feel good in the absence of it. But it is the emotion that is primary manifestation. [If you understand this], then you will have control over the only manifestation that matters which is the way you feel. And when you get control of that one, you’ve got control of every other manifestation.”
We want things because they will make us feel a certain way. So focus on what you want to feel and then, the conditions that you think will make you feel that way will come.
They will. Don’t believe me, read this.
So focus on how you want to feel. For example:
I don’t know what job/career/profession I want but I know I want something that makes me feel inspired, rich, creative, passionate, alive, powerful, visionary, helpful. I want to contribute to a vision and feel like I am making an impact. I want to wake up in the morning and feel alive and capable and run to work. I don’t want work to feel like work.
If you want clarity on where you want to live:
I don’t know where I want to live but I know I want to live someplace beautiful, close to nature, but also close to the city, with good energy and a beautiful community where I feel like I can be myself and I have close friends and where my kids will be able to grow up in an encouraging and supporting community.
This is the kind of thinking that brings you clarity. Clarity is one of the most beautiful things we can have. We so desperately want to feel clear.
When we do this work, we can confidently feel that we know exactly what we want. Because we do.
If I told you that you would receive this vision of yourself. That it was destined to come and you could let go entirely into it. That you would feel and be healthy, rich, free, powerful, etc. Would it matter exactly the circumstances of it? Are the exact conditions of that important? Does it matter if you’re a famous author, or a famous actress, or a successful venture capitalist? If it does matter (i.e. you just absolutely love writing and your passion for life can only be fulfilled through writing), trust that if you focus on feeling passionate, success in writing will be in your future. God doesn’t lie. The Universe didn’t mess up when it created you with your passions.
