Esther Hicks: Don’t Worry About What Is?
There are important things to understand before you begin to manifest. You need to be practiced at mindfulness and presence. You have to understand that these concepts form the foundation for manifestation.
She breaks down manifesting into four steps:
- Step 1: feel lack and want (that’s easy)
- Step 2: Recognize that the [Universe, Gd, Nature] hears your expression of want and is responding
- Step 3: Cultivate a mental framework that makes you feel good. Focus on things that make you feel good. Do things that make you feel good. Move towards things that feel good when you focus on them. Trust that they manifestations are coming.
- Step 4: Become really good at Step 3. Feel the intense joy of your thoughts when you live in this state. Focus on the emotion being enough. Isn’t feeling good…good?

How To Manifest
The key to manifesting is to realize that you attract through your state of being. State of being is your awareness + emotions + thought. These three can be pretty much summed up by “how you feel.”
The Universe doesn’t respond to what you say, the Universe responds to what you mean. What you mean is how you feel.
If you feel good, you will attract more of that goodness to you. The same goes for feeling bad. Have you ever noticed how when you’re “in the zone,” things just kind of work out for you? And when you “wake up on the wrong side of the bed,” you are almost guaranteed that you’re going to have a bad day?
You feel good when you’re aligned with your inner being. You become extremely powerful when you align with your inner being. Your inner being is always so happy and excited to be alive. When you feel bad, it is because you have gotten out of alignment.
Again, manifesting is happening whether you like it or not, or intend to or not. So the real question we’re asking here is: how do I manifest things that I want? Or, how do I manifest specific things?
Your emotional guidance system is always telling you whether you are connected to the lack of what you want or the “having of what you want.”
Activate the thinking/feeling loop
The key is that you have to be able to feel greater than your environment. If you can only ever feel equal to your environment, then you will only ever create more of the same. If you do not have enough money, then you must be able to feel as though you have enough money, even though you don’t. Anyone who has dug themselves out of a hole has done this. They break the cycle of negativity and imagine a reality where they are better/more successful/happier and then they begin to live that new reality.
How can something become if you cannot imagine it becoming? It must begin first in thought.
Awareness is the first step to manifesting, but it is not the last step. Awareness brings light to your habitual state. But once you become aware of something, then you need to bring change to it. I have found several powerful ways to do this (read below):
How To Change The Way You’re Feeling
Manifesting exists in your capacity to turn thoughts into felt experiences. Visualization is a powerful tool for it as it helps to stimulate those felt experiences. How much in the future should you visualize? What should you visualize? They key is that it feels good and brings the emotions of goodness that you want. You will find that if you go too into the details, that good feeling will go away and thoughts like (”Is this the best way to do it?” Or, “I don’t know if I can really do that”) will begin to arise. That means you’ve gone too far. As you get better at this you’ll be able to go deeper and see more. Don’t push it, that’s the key.
Esther Hicks says:
Most people say, “give me [insert condition of happiness] and then I’ll be happy.” But it doesn’t work that way. That’s backwards. You’ve got to find the happy place first. Humans say, “you live with what I’ve got going on and you be happy.” And we say, “we are living with what you've got going on and we are happy and the only reason that you ever feel unhappy is because you're not up to speed with that which we are – that is the basis of unhappiness.” You think your unhappiness is because you don't have what you want you think you need. You think it’s because you don't have the car, you don't have the lover, you don't have the bodily condition, you don't have the money. You think that's why you're not happy. And we say, that's just the excuse you're using to not be up to speed with who we are and not being up to speed with who we are is why you're not happy.”
Do you understand this mind shift?
Most people focus on what they want and use it to further feel bad about not having it. They are reinforcing their feeling of lack, their victim mentality. We are proposing using your desire to catapult you forward into feeling what it is you want to feel (or what you think you’ll feel when you have x, which is really the same thing).
How to Manifest “Big” Things
If you want to manifest “big” things, you have to stop believing that they are “big.” It is very easy for you to manifest things you are used to manifesting. Making the money you usually make is not very hard. You kind of just expect it.
However, when you think about “big” things, then they feel far, doubt comes in, fear comes in. Some people respond by thinking, “well, I don’t really want that thing.” Unfortunately, that doesn’t help. Once you’ve launched that desire, there’s no going back.
You need to be able to look at “big” things the same way you look at “little” things. The only difference is that you think you know how to make the little thing happen on your own. But the reality is, even for the little things, you’re still relying on a million things outside of your control. You just trust that they’ll all fall into place. You just assume that it will work. You need to have the same utter calmness and certainty that the million things out of your control with the big thing will fall into place just as effortlessly and easily.
That’s how you manifest. You need to feel as though it’s a certainty. You need to feel as though it’s already there. You don’t mind waiting for next week’s walk in the park because there’s no doubt in your mind that it is going to happen.
You need to do the inner work and then the outer work becomes so much more fun, so much more joyous.
A Key To Manifesting: Surrender
If you truly believe that what you want will come and you live with that knowledge, you will have truly surrendered. If you do this long enough you will even stop wanting it. You will whole. You will feel elated. You will feel trust. When you no longer need it, it means that you have no more resistance.
You will wake up in the morning and bring your entire self to every moment. You will know that the path you are walking, even if winding, will bring you to where you want to go. And you appreciate and see every little manifestation on the way. You feel powerful and incredible.
To Manifest, You Must Not Focus On What Is
That is, if what is, makes you feel bad. You must focus on how you want to feel and what you want to be.
You want me to not focus on what is? You want me to feel and think differently than my reality?
Isn’t that the definition of insanity?
Yes. Well maybe.
Because look at how well “sanity” is working for everyone else. They carry negativity around with them because, “you be happy with the reality I’m experiencing!” This sanity they are preaching is bringing pain and destruction to themselves, those around them, and our planet.
That’s the alternative. That’s the sanity they’re preaching. Where you do what they want you to do because it makes them feel better to see others doing as they do even if it is just making everyone unhappy.
So yeah…be f***ing insane.
