The term, “Law of Attraction” was coined by Esther Hicks, although she was simply naming something that mystics and wise people long understood.
The Law of Attraction is based on the understanding that all of the Universe is One. Some people call this God. Some call it Energy. Some call it Pacha Mama. Regardless of the term you choose, the flow of energy from this Source is what flows through all of existence. You and I are made up of it and it’s the same thing that flows through rocks and trees and concrete and air molecules. Quantum physics is already coming closer to it, but it’s smaller than sub-atomic particles. It is the essence of existence.
Because we are all made up of the same thing, there is nothing that you can do that doesn’t have an impact on all of reality. Most people are aware of this when they exert physical force (i.e. by moving something), but it also applies to our thoughts. In fact, it most applies to our vibration. Our vibration isn’t exactly the way that we feel. Rather, how we feel is an indicator of our vibration. Our vibration is the energetic pattern that we are embodying through our physical being.
For now, let’s say that your your vibration = your thoughts + your emotions. Recognize that your thoughts and emotions will ALWAYS reflect your vibration. You cannot think or feel thoughts of love and gratitude if your vibration is one of fear and worry.
Now your thoughts and emotions aren’t the only thing that responds to your vibration. All of existence is responding as well. People, animals, things, and circumstances, are all drawn towards matching vibrations.
Like Is Attracted To Like
The Law of Attraction says that similarly vibrational things are drawn towards other similar vibrations.
That means that the Universe hears what you mean not what you say. You might be trying to think thoughts of love and abundance but actually, your vibration is one of fear. That means that you won’t attract love and abundance, but you will attract things that match your vibration of fear.
When you close your eyes and become aware of how you feel in your body, you will start to be able to tell what your vibration is.
How Do I Change My Vibration?
If you’re perceptible, you’ll understand that because your thoughts and emotions match your vibration, you can’t really change your thoughts or emotions in order to change your vibration.
Naturally, you might then ask: how do I change my vibration?
There are two answers:
- By meditating
- By refocusing
Refocusing simply focuses you towards something that feels better for you. This could mean taking a walk, calling a friend, playing the guitar, watching something funny online, or getting some exercise. Your vibration naturally wants to rise. You must simply let go of resistance to let it do that.
The Most Important Understanding
The thing people often get wrong, is that they work or try so hard to accomplish something, that what they are actually doing is living in the vibration of lack.
Let’s take an example:
I really want money. I am very much aware of how much money I don’t have. I work really hard at work. I budget excessively. I think about it all the time. I do affirmations. But all the while, I am actually just putting out the vibration of, “I don’t have enough money.” This vibration doesn’t feel very good. I am standing in a vibration that I don’t want and reaching for something I do want. It doesn’t work like that.
Law of Attraction says that I have to stand in something that I do want in order to get something I do want.
Let’s look at how I would attract money through this understanding:
I really appreciate money and I really like all the creative ways that I spend it now. I don’t feel the lack of the money, rather I just focus on what I have. I enjoy imagining all the different ways that I will spend it. I am standing in a vibration of fulfillment and appreciation, which is a vibrational match to what I want.
