Life is actually extremely simple.
There are two possible states and within these states exists all else. There is:
Connection (Flow) <> Disconnection.
What I am asking you to do, or rather, what the Universe is asking you to do, is to understand that you create your own reality and that your power of creation is in how you feel, not what you do. This is because the state of connection – or as many call it, the flow state – is the principal force of creation in this world. That means, action done in flow is magnitudes more powerful than action done out of flow. Even flow-state thought is a more powerful influencer of reality than disconnected action.
We Create Our Own Reality
We all accept this to some degree. We know that two different people can look at the same person, the same event, in two dramatically different ways. So we know that our experience of reality is our own creation.
The leap then is to understand that your experience of reality, your mindset and thoughts, are actually creating your reality. Your inner dialogue is projected outwards and you begin to attract what you put out. The entire world is simply a mirror of our inner reality. Why that is, is a separate discussion.
If you create your own reality, why then would you create a reality you don’t like?
The answer to this is that you are often an unconscious creator.
Our power of creation is much more through our mind than our actions, an idea that many of us might find difficult to accept. We think that we create through our actions, but ponder the source of your actions. Many of them are unconscious, driven by actions and reactions long programmed. When your mom says x, you respond y. When your boss tells you to do z, you feel w.
Is the Javascript function a Creator? Of course not. The coder of the script is the Creator.
So our creation (i.e. your life) is little more than a program spitting out results. Your reality is not to your liking because of many subconscious influences on your power of creation:
- You’re creating a reality you think someone else will like
- You’re not aware that you are a creator and are simply living a reactionary life
- You have not practiced awareness enough so your day is mostly spent in unconsciousness.
Let me be clear…you are always creating, even in unconsciousness. It might be pain and negativity, but you are creating.
If you want to create a life you like, be a coder. Change the set of beliefs spitting out undesirable outputs, live in flow, and the results will begin to change.
Flow v. Disconnection
The state of connection – the flow state – is best associated with clarity. In flow, all doubt, fear, and questioning disappear. You will feel this. In a flow state, there is no sacrificing the now for some future achievement. In fact, in the flow state, there is no such thing as sacrifice. There is no work to do once you are in flow. There is nothing I can teach you for when you arrive at that holy place. When you are there, you will have all the answers you need, you will act with inspiration and clarity, and you will be overwhelmed by unconditional and unbelievable joy. Connection.
The state of disconnection is where most of us exist, until now. Any and all practice, meditation, mindfulness, or book that you will read, watch, or do, is because you are trying to move into flow. Once you are there, there is nothing else to “do.” In disconnect, there is doubt, fear, hopelessness, anger, and helplessness. With enough disconnect for long enough, it leads to depression. It can be best associated with confusion.
The transition from disconnect to flow is akin to surfing. You must learn to read the ocean, the currents, and your body so you know when and how to paddle. But after several skilled strokes, the wave takes you up and you are flowing.
Our practice can best be understood with two simple objectives:
- Access the flow state and memorize it. The more we memorize it, the easier it is to access it, maintain it, and identify when we are not connected.
- Learn techniques for moving from disconnection to flow.
That is all.
The point of meditation is to memorize what it feels like to flow
There are several important things that would be valuable for you to understand:
The Only Thing Separating You From Flow Is…
You.
It is your resistance that disconnects you. Everything you do or think, is essentially either creating:
- Relief from resistance (more flow)
- An increase in resistance (less flow)
This is why there is no perfect life or perfect action that I can teach you. Because what provides relief from resistance for you is uniquely yours. This duality is your compass for fulfilling your purpose in this world and receiving everything that you could ever dream of. I can only help you access the courage and skills to follow this path – to follow flow where ever it takes you.
Put very simply, you need to think and do things that decrease resistance and provide relief. Your body is your perfect device for figuring out the right way. We will learn to listen to our bodies.
- When you choose resistance > more resistance is created > leading you further towards disconnection
- When you choose relief > you attract more relief and ease > leading you towards flow
If you do this long enough, you will eventually just fall into flow. Again, because you are the only one keeping yourself from this wonderful place, when you remove resistance, you do not need to do anything to access flow.
All of our work is based upon teaching you to remove resistance.
Why Does Disconnection Exist?
First, the state of flow exists because disconnection exists. Every time you are disconnected, you are actually sharpening its opposite. It is why tremendous suffering often leads to tremendous enlightenment. There is great kindness in suffering.
Just like a rubber band, the more it is stretched to one side the more – by definition – it illuminates the other side. I often tell people that you cannot know unhappiness if you did not also know, in that moment, what it would be like to be happy. Outside of the boundaries of time, they exist simultaneously. Thus, our feeling of lack actually serves as a portal to exactly what we want.
However, suffering is not inevitable. The more connected you are, the less you need the contrast to rediscover what you want. The more you flow, the more you get to flow.
Why Am I Disconnected?
You are disconnected because you justify your disconnection.
It’s ok. We all do this to some degree.
You justify your disconnection for two reasons:
- You believe that there is something you want that you can only get by doing things that bring resistance (no pain, no gain)
- You do not trust that everything you want will come from choosing the path of least resistance
In essence, our beliefs are not bringing us towards flow which means, they are not serving us.
There are many reasons why we do this. We see others do it. We have been told we have to do it. We don’t know how to do differently. Because we have always done it, we are afraid not to do it, because the “not-doing-it” is unknown.
Will Flow Really Bring Me What I Want?
Yes.
You will get what you want when you choose the path of least resistance.
The path of least resistance means doing and thinking things that feel good for you now. The more resistance you remove, the more you will enter flow. The more you enter flow, the more you connect to your powers of creation, to clarity, to joy, to passion. Sacrifice never serves you. Some “sacrifice” actually connects us deeper (this is obviously not sacrifice), for example: “sacrificing” time to meditate.” But sacrifice implies doing something with lots of resistance now because it will eventually lead you to where you want to go. This is not true. Resistance only ever leads to more resistance. If you choose to sacrifice, you will continue to sacrifice and sacrifice until you either wake up or drown (and then wake up).
In all of your disconnection, you have been honing what you want materially, socially, psychologically, and spiritually. The reason you want anything is because you think it will make you feel a certain way. The bottom line is that all that you really want is to flow. All that you want to create will result from that flow. Desires – even for money – is a glimpse of what is waiting for you in flow. You would not have wanted it if you could not receive it. You could not imagine a desire if you were not also, simultaneously, aware of what it would be like for that desire to be fulfilled.
Your inner being (which is your connection to God, Source, Universe) has infinite wisdom and operates outside of the boundaries of time and space. When you project a desire, your inner being responds and reality begins to shift around you. Your path through this reality is laid forth for you and is, by definition, the path of least resistance.
So when you surrender, you are surrendering to a higher (inner) knowing that is laying out the brickwork for you, in the most perfect and shortest possible way to everything that you want. Without resistance. Without sacrifice.
When you walk this path, you feel joyous fulfillment, because you are fulfilling the very reason you were created. You stand in awe how things come to you without any resistance. You get what you want. You stop suffering.
Eventually, when you are really in flow, you stop needing anything, because you are flowing.
Follow the yellow brick road.
The Last Thing I’ll Say About Flow
If you understand what I just wrote, then you understand why the only question ever worth asking is: am I flowing now?
The only thing to “do,” are things that help return you to flow.
You will also understand why, when you are flowing, you won’t ask that question anymore. You will know.
I can only help you arrive at connection. When you are there, no one has anything else left to teach you. You will have connected to Source and you are now on a unique, powerful path which will amaze everyone (including you).
The Work
Our work begins here. We work now with two key understandings:
- Everything we want is contained in our flow state and, at least intellectually, we accept that.
- The only reason we aren’t connected is because we have resistance towards being connected.
Our path is the path of least resistance.
We must first understand how resistance manifests in the body. We must learn to relax our body in the face of resistance. We must learn to quiet our mind. Then we must use our mind to recreate a belief that is keeping us out of flow.
What Do You Have To Lose?
I want you to ponder this question. What is the alternative to what I am suggesting?
Keep doing what you’re doing? Keep thinking, feeling, and acting the same way? Is it serving you? Are you flowing? Are you fighting for what you want or is it coming to you? If not, why are you so afraid to try something different?
When you act from a place of disconnect, you are doing what you think you’re supposed to do. Understand that this thought, as long as it stays disconnected from how you feel, is completely a result of your past – what you’ve learned, who you have seen, how your parents interacted with life. It is entirely reactionary. You cannot create something new with this death grip on the same thinking and doing that you have always done. This is what most people do, even though it does not work.
Let’s try a different mode of being. In this game, you focus on how you feel not what you are doing. You allow yourself to think whatever you need to think to feel good and whole. You surround yourself with people who make you feel good. You stop focusing on things that make you feel bad (even if they feel true, even if they are present in reality, even if you think you need to focus on them or something bad will happen). Allow yourself to let go of everything holding you back.
